Have you endured a traumatic event?

When a stressful event happens in our life or we are under threat our sympathetic nervous system is activated. This causes our eyes to dilate, our attention to focus, our heart rate to increase, our breathing to become faster and our muscles to tense up. This is all to help you react quickly in order to insure better safety. This is a normal reaction, and it is customary to be shaken by a traumatic event or at the site of danger.

However, if these symptoms last for an extended period of time after the incident, you may want to seek help. If your stress reaction lasts for months on end and is accompanied by a number of other symptoms like reoccurring memories or distress and anxiousness about the event, that are significantly interfering with you life, you should seek professional help.

At Star Point Counseling Center, we have licensed counseling therapists available to help reduce your stress, relieve your pain, and make you feel better. We are here to help you find out how to maximize your productivity and build coping skills. So, if you have experienced a traumatic event and need to talk about it, or want to learn ways to cope with your distress, please visit our website starpointcounselingtampa.com or give us a call at (813)-244-1251.

Happy Veteran’s Day!

To all of those who serve and have served and their families, we wish you a Happy Veteran’s Day! We are grateful to you for our freedom!!

Star Point Counseling center offers therapy services to veteran’s of war and their families. Often times soldiers have a difficult experience adjusting back to family life after being in a war situation for an extended period of time. Here is a little information from our Clinical Director on how we may be able to help you!

We work to make our veterans’ homecoming as rewarding as possible. We will help you identify and find relief from signs and symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Major Depression (MDD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAS), etc., and provide the services necessary to assure the adjustment to civilian life.

We work to reverse the dissociation and desensitization that was, in war, a source of strength, which otherwise at home may contribute to a sense of detachment, estrangement, and/or an inability to give, express, or receive love.

Star Point Counseling has offices in both Brandon and Tampa Fl to better serve you! Visit our website for more information http://www.starpointcounselingtampa.com
